ANC Glendale Accepting Applications for Summer 2009 Internship Program
April 16, 2009

Glendale, CA - The Armenian National Committee – Glendale Chapter (ANCG) announced on Monday that applications for its Internship Program’s 2009 Summer Session are now available. Interested individuals can view and download copies of the application by visiting the “For Students” section of the ANC Glendale website at www.ancglendale.org.

“The ANC-Glendale Internship Program has opened my eyes to the inner workings of the City of Glendale, as well as allowed me to develop my people and networking skills,” stated Talar Kakilian, currently an intern with ANCG. “I know that all the experience I gain from this program will significantly benefit my future as well as allow me to better serve my community,” added Kakilian.

In addition to networking with community leaders, candidates participate in workshops featuring a variety of guest speakers, including public officials, ANC leadership, and specialists from the community. Interns also partake in joint projects with fellow interns as well as individual sessions ranging from media relations and civic participation to grassroots advocacy.

“The ANCG internship program is a testament of our promise to the future leaders of our community,” stated Elen Asatryan, Executive Director of ANCG.  “We hope to provide them with necessary framework in order to remain involved in their community long after the program has ended,” added Asatryan.

The 2009 Summer Session of the ANCG Internship Program will begin on May 18, 2009 and run through August 21, 2009. Applications for the internship are available on the ANC Glendale Chapter website at www.ancglendale.org and through the ANCG headquarters. Applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, May 8, 2009 to be considered for the Summer 2009 Session.  Applications will be reviewed and those deemed qualified will be invited for an interview before final selections are made.

Established in Fall 2007, the ANCG IP is a selective part time, leadership training program, which introduces young public servants to all aspects of the public affairs arena.  The program provides an opportunity for student leaders and activists to gain an in-depth understanding of Armenian American issues as well as advocacy efforts on the local level, while contributing to ANCG's vision and mission. The program hosts spring, summer, and autumn sessions.

For more information or to request applications contact the ANCG headquarters at (818) 243-3444 or at info@ancglendale.org.
