Hi, my name is _____ and I am calling to urge Senator Scott to support Assembly Bill 1089. This legislation seeks to prohibit a California state agency from entering into a contract of $100,000 or more with a company supporting the Sudanese government and their ongoing genocide in Darfur . Last year, the federal government adopted the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act and the adoption of AB 1089 would follow in the spirit of this legislation.

Due to the recent escalation of violence in Sudan and increased attacks against the people of Darfur , we urge the Senator to join us as well as community organizations throughout the state and country in supporting AB 1089. We want to make sure that California ’s tax dollars are not being used as a source of funding for the Government of Sudan’s genocidal campaign.
