![]() Senator Jack Scott to Deliver Keynote Speech GHS Student, Hentrietta Movsessian to Receve "Youth Activitst of the Year" Award Glendale, CA – The Armenian National Committee – Glendale Chapter announced recently that Senator Jack Scott will deliver the keynote speech at the ANC-Glendale Chapter Banquet, while GHS Student, Hanrietta Movsessian will receive the “Youth Activist of the Year” award. The event is set to take place on Thursday, June 5, 2008, 6:30pm at Brandview Collection in Glendale, CA.
"We're extremely honored to have Senator Scott as this year's keynote speaker," stated Artin Manoukian, Chairman of ANCG. "Senator Scott has been a longtime leader on issues impacting Armenian-American constituents in California’s 21st State Senate District and empowering people to improve their communities. We're looking forward to having him speak to our community and share his life experiences prior to his change in careers," added Manoukian. For many Armenian Americans, Senator Scott’s signature piece of legislation was Senate Bill 1657, which was passed in 2002 and established a California international trade and investment office in the Republic of Armenia. The signing of Senate Bill 1657 in 2002 was the culmination of a three-year grassroots effort by over ten local ANC chapters to establish formal trade relations between the Republic of Armenia and California. Hanrietta Mo “Our office received countless nomination forms for the Youth Activist of the Year Award. To choose from a group of driven, young individuals, who commit themselves to serving their community was exceptionally difficult, but Miss. Movsessian’s involvement in the different segments of the community brought us to our final decision,” stated Elen Asatryan, Executive Director of ANCG. The Annual Banquet will begin with Cocktail Hour at 6:30pm, followed by Dinner and Program at 7:00pm. Awards will be presented to Mr. Alec Baghdasaryan, President of the Armenian Educational Foundation, Ms. Zizette Ayad, Community Relations Coordinator - City of Glendale, Officer John Balian, Public Information Officer - Glendale Police Department and Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation, provider of after-school educational services to youth in the area and Miss. Hanrietta Movsessian, a student at GHS.
