ANC Glendale ABA Set Date for Free Financial Clinic
December 1, 2011

Glendale, CA - The Armenian National Committee of Glendale and the Armenian Bar Association set the date this week for their next Free Legal Clinic, which will address financial matters. Conducted in both English and Armenian, the clinic will take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00 p.m. at K&M Karamanoukian, Glendale Youth Center, 211 W. Chestnut St., Glendale, CA 91204.

"Given the dire economic times, we felt that it would be suitable to host the next legal clinic on financial matters. There are many residents that are currently finding themselves on the verge of losing their home, filing bankruptcy or having too much credit card debt. We hope that the December 14th clinic will provide the much needed legal guidance, while addressing the misconceptions out there about the appropriate ways in which to handle these types of financial issues,” stated Elen Asatryan, Executive Director of ANC Glendale.

Volunteer attorneys from the Armenian Bar Association will provide free legal advice and guidance on questions dealing with foreclosures, wills and trusts, estate planning, mortgages, short sales, credit card debt, bankruptcy, and other financial related matters.  Clinics are limited to advice and consultation only. Attendees who wish to have their case taken by volunteer attorneys on a pro bono basis after the legal clinic must provide low income verification.

Attendees are encouraged to bring to the clinic documentation pertaining to their legal issues such as agreements or contracts (signed or proposed), written rules or policies, court orders, court papers served or that were filed with the court, all letters and specific paperwork related to the case.

“The Armenian Bar Association is proud to continue its partnership with ANC Glendale in bringing together volunteer attorneys from our pro bono committee to meet with needy members of the Armenian community,” said ABA Pro Bono Committee Co-Chair, Vicken I. Simonian.
Community members interested in attending the clinic are encouraged to schedule an appointment by emailing info@ancglendale.org or calling 818.243.3444. Walk-in clients may be seen without an appointment as time permits.

The Armenian Bar Association was formed in 1989 to provide an arena for lawyers of Armenian heritage to come together socially and professionally and to address the legal concerns of the Armenian community

The Armenian National Committee-Glendale Chapter advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the city's Armenian American community and promotes increased civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
