3 Students Gear Up for Fall Internship Program
December 13, 2010

Glendale, CA – On Monday, December 13, 2010, the Armenianfall interns National Committee of Glendale kicked off its fall 2010 internship program session through which three local students will have an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of Armenian-American issues as well as advocacy efforts on the local level.  Participating in the program are Garen Arabian, Tadeh Gharib and Sipan Ghazaryan

“We are thrilled to welcome an outstanding group of young adults to participate in the 2010 Fall Internship Program at ANC Glendale," stated Elen Asatryan, Executive Director of ANC Glendale.  "Over the next 12 weeks, these students will find themselves immersed in innovative, hands-on projects that directly affect their community, while going through an intensive list of workshops and lectures. It is a truly unique and exciting opportunity for the students to both understand and demonstrate the importance of being active and making a positive change in the community,” added Asatryan.


Garen Arabian, currently a senior at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School recently participated in the Hunger Strike organized by the Armenian Youth Federation in protest of the Armenia-Turkey protocols and served as a volunteer on Nairi Nahabedian political campaign. Arabian has won many sporting events such as the Navasartian Table Tennis tournament, Playa Del Run 5K Run Point Series, Surf City Marathon, the famous Dallas Cup as well as received 1st place in the Armenian Engineers and Scientists Association Olympiad in the field of science.


Tadeh Gharib, a junior at Clark Magnet High School is currently the Director of Finance for the Associated Student Body where he handles costs and revenueS. Gharib is also a member of the California Scholarship Federation, American Red Cross, the Armenian Club and the Engineering Club. Aside from on-campus activities, Gharib is an eight year member of the Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter where he is a member of the basketball team and serves as coach and referee.


“I am excited to hold the opportunity to be an intern at the ANC Glendale because it will allow me to contribute to local activities as well as develop leadership skills that will benefit my future,” stated Tadeh Gharib.


Sipan Ghazaryan a junior at Clark Magnet High School currently serves as the 2012 class President.  Ghazaryan is also member of the American Red Cross, CMHS’s Mock Trial team, GUSD’s Student Advisory Council as well as a former member of the Glendale High School football and track team.


Established in fall 2007, The ANCG Internship program provides an opportunity for student leaders and activists to gain an in-depth understanding of Armenian-American issues as well as advocacy efforts on the local level. In addition to networking with community leaders, candidates participate in workshops featuring a variety of guest speakers, including public officials, ANC leadership, and specialists from the community. Interns also partake in joint projects with fellow interns as well as individual sessions ranging from media relations and civic participation to grassroots advocacy.


The Armenian National Committee-Glendale Chapter is a public affairs organization that acts on a wide range of issues concerning Armenian Americans in Glendale and promotes their political goals in our government and community through events and meetings.
