![]() ANC Glendale Chapter Hosts Dinner with Police Chief Ronald De Pompa Glendale, CA - On March 24, 2010, the Armenian National ”The monthly dinners sponsored by the ANC serve as a terrific forum for connecting the community and getting pertinent information out to them. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to address the attendees last month concerning critical policing challenges for the future of Glendale and we look forward to participating in future events,” noted Glendale Police Chief, Ronald De Pompa. During the presentation portion of the evening, Chief De Pompa relayed some of the new initiatives launched by the department such as the implementation of area commands through which each team of officers are in charge of a designated neighborhood as opposed to rotating throughout the city, a new information system, which allows the department to obtain crime trends on a daily basis as well as several sites (crimemapping.com and iwatchglendale.org), which offer residents local crime trends and statistics. Moreover, Chief De Pompa discussed emerging threats to the city of Glendale such as the early release of nearly 18,000 felons and 6,000 inmates from prison to the LA area by the end of 2011, the influx of Heroin abuse by high school age residents in La Crescenta, as well as, major traffic and pedestrian safety issues, which the department has been dealing with for several years now. "Glendale ANC's March installment of "Dinner with...." series with Chief De Pompa was everything we had hoped for. The Chief was, as usual, frank, knowledgeable and forthcoming. Those present were able to see, up-close, one of the few leaders in our community who transcends politics and represents public service at its best," stated ANC Glendale Co-Chair, Leonard Manoukian. The Armenian National Committee-Glendale Chapter advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the city's Armenian American community and promotes increased civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels. ####
