ANC-Glendale Chapter Announces Long Time Activist Elen Asatryan as New Executive Director Glendale, CA – The Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter announced this week the appointment of Elen Asatryan as its new Executive Director. As Executive Director, Asatryan will represent the ANC Glendale Chapter before local officials and community organizations. She will be responsible for educating public officials on a range of issues important to Armenian-Americans living in Glendale as well as organizing community events to better foster the needs of the Armenian-American Community. “I am very pleased and proud to have someone with Ms. Asatryan’s background and dedication join our team,” stated ANC Glendale Chapter Chairman George Garikian. “I look forward to working with her to build a stronger, more effective advocacy group for the Armenian-American community in Glendale,” added Garikian. Prior to joining the ANC Glendale Chapter, Asatryan worked on local campaigns for both state and federal elections. Her commitment to Armenian issues dates back to her activist days at Hoover High School, where Asatryan, as the Armenian Club President, led her peers to get involved in local campaigns and organize cultural awareness events for the community. Asatryan is also a former intern of the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region Office, where she has worked on Genocide recognition and Permanent Trade Relations between U.S. and Armenia. She has also served as a board member for ANC Glendale Chapter and has been the Social Director and Senior Advisor for UCLA’s Armenian Students’ Association. Asatryan has been a strong advocate of women’s rights and has assisted in establishing Feminists United student organization at University of California, Irvine. Asatryan, 24 is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied Political Science with a concentration on American Politics and International Relations. The Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter is a non-profit Armenian-American grassroots organization, which serves to advance the political, socioeconomic, as well as cultural concerns of the Armenian-American community in the City of Glendale #### |
